A lot of work was done to rehab the bridge and the pond underneath it in the park the past summer. I just found this not uninteresting picture shot through the bridge’s span and the scaffolding.

If you haven’t been in the garden behind the Longfellow House (and the Maine Historical Society building), then you should. It’s a nice oasis of quiet on Congress Street, fifty or yard from Monument Square, where there’s usually something (protest, disburbance) going on and where Preble, Congress and Elm Streets all meet.
