Approaching Mars Hill is fantastic.

You can see the windmills from Route 1 from quite a long way away. I know there are some people who interpret these as a blight on the landscape, but their effect on what people call the “viewshed” (I still think that word is as terrible a use of language as all the deadening Corporatisms I had to deal with in a previous life) is not any more harmful than the masts of sailing ships might harm the “sightscape” from the ocean shore.

I’ve seen windfarms in New Mexico and Upstate New York, and I’ll take these over smog, nuclear power plant cooling towers, and coal power plant chimneys. My opinion. There you have it.
