Rock Wall in Forest, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.

I often find myself walking through the woods, off the main trail or road, thinking “Wow, this area hasn’t been touched by humans, and I know I’m the first person who’s ever walking through these woods!” when I come across a stone wall like this.

This was taken at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which admittedly isn’t the western Maine mountains, but the feeling’s the same.

First Friday Art Walk, Congress Street.

A reminder that galleries in Portland’s Arts District are open all month long. Some are even air conditioned!

Yellahoose has photography in its suites (#405 and 407). Just called 207.838.8678 beforehand to make certain someone’s there. We have AC too.

And yes I have in fact been getting lots of unprocessed film done at Black and White Photo Lab. Thanks Dierdre!

This was taken in same series of brownfield pictures I did behind Morrill’s Corner.

Morrill’s is notorious, I suppose, for it’s traffic bottleneck, especially after 4 PM when a freight train usually cuts off traffic at Forest Ave. Walton St. and Allen Ave. for 10-15 minutes. People want to speed to/from Windham and other towns off of Route 302. It would be nicer if there were a plan to do a kind of small town center at Morrill’s. Granted, that would do much for the traffic here.

There are big warehouse spaces, looks to me like they’re underused if used at all, off Read Street.

There was to be a Stop & Shop and condo development at Morrill’s, off Allen Avenue. But my understand was that Stop & Shop had pulled out of the state. If anyone knows more about this project, email.

This picture was taken in brownfield land behind Morrill’s Corner.

Fish Flag. Yosaku.

Yosaku is a good sushi restaurant located at the intersection of Pleasant and Danforth Streets. They have a patio, great when the weather’s warm and sunny.

This is the flag they fly. Very fun!

Fishing boats. Fore River wharves.

Portland’s fishing wharves along the Fore River are great places to take pictures.

This was of the wharf behind Becky’s Diner.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are fantastic! We’ve been two or three times in the past year. And I am not really interested in taking pictures of plants.

I don’t know what these plants are. We have them in the yard here too, and the neighbor and I used to cut them down to get to the grass they were growing out of, but when we realized how fantastic looking they were we gave up on the grass and let them grow.

We have a lot of Japanese Barberry in the yard, so I can’t say whether this is not an invasive plant species. I like Japanese Barberry too!
