Here’s the super-size version.

Approaching Mars Hill is fantastic.

You can see the windmills from Route 1 from quite a long way away. I know there are some people who interpret these as a blight on the landscape, but their effect on what people call the “viewshed” (I still think that word is as terrible a use of language as all the deadening Corporatisms I had to deal with in a previous life) is not any more harmful than the masts of sailing ships might harm the “sightscape” from the ocean shore.

I’ve seen windfarms in New Mexico and Upstate New York, and I’ll take these over smog, nuclear power plant cooling towers, and coal power plant chimneys. My opinion. There you have it.

Enjoy.

The Jewel of the Seas is the big white boat on the left. Or ship. Not certain about the sea-faring terminology. But, it’s parallel parked alongside Ocean Gateway.

Taken from the path behind the Hannaford there.

Yes, the scaffolding alone is pretty impressive.

Yeah, that is what the park’s called.

The benches are in disrepair, but the park has a good view down the peninsula, including Portland’s Downtown and Bayside neighborhoods.
