First Friday Art Walk, Congress Street.

A reminder that galleries in Portland’s Arts District are open all month long. Some are even air conditioned!

Yellahoose has photography in its suites (#405 and 407). Just called 207.838.8678 beforehand to make certain someone’s there. We have AC too.

And yes I have in fact been getting lots of unprocessed film done at Black and White Photo Lab. Thanks Dierdre!

This was taken in same series of brownfield pictures I did behind Morrill’s Corner.

Morrill’s is notorious, I suppose, for it’s traffic bottleneck, especially after 4 PM when a freight train usually cuts off traffic at Forest Ave. Walton St. and Allen Ave. for 10-15 minutes. People want to speed to/from Windham and other towns off of Route 302. It would be nicer if there were a plan to do a kind of small town center at Morrill’s. Granted, that would do much for the traffic here.

There are big warehouse spaces, looks to me like they’re underused if used at all, off Read Street.

There was to be a Stop & Shop and condo development at Morrill’s, off Allen Avenue. But my understand was that Stop & Shop had pulled out of the state. If anyone knows more about this project, email.

This picture was taken in brownfield land behind Morrill’s Corner.

Taken on Morrill Street off of Forest Avenue.

Fish Flag. Yosaku.

Yosaku is a good sushi restaurant located at the intersection of Pleasant and Danforth Streets. They have a patio, great when the weather’s warm and sunny.

This is the flag they fly. Very fun!

Vista House, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon.

We had the rental car (see previous day’s post) for two days. The second day we drove up the Columbia River Gorge, stopping at all the fantastic touristy vistas and other places, including every waterfall, small and large, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Anyone driving behind us that day… well, if you were trying to get somewhere… sorry.

This is the rather famous Vista House located on Crown Point overlooking the gorge.

Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Oldie from our fantastic trip in 2007 to the “other” Portland in Oregon.

We rented a car and took a day trip out route 26 to the coast. (Aaron and the Hicks family will play Michael Stipe and tell me whether I can’t get there from here… I think it was 26…) This was at Cannon Beach. It was a little bit nippy, if I remember right, but it was sunny, great for hanging out on the beach and for flying a kite. I don’t have a picture of it, but there were horses on the beach too.

Need to go back!

Fishing boats. Fore River wharves.

Portland’s fishing wharves along the Fore River are great places to take pictures.

This was of the wharf behind Becky’s Diner.
